To coordinate and promote inclusive policies, services, and programs that protect the rights of persons with disabilities, ensure accessibility, and foster their full integration into national development efforts.

Departmental Strategic Goals

  1. Mainstream Disability in Public Policy and Planning

    • Advocate for disability-inclusive policies within the Ministry and across government.

    • Ensure disability considerations are reflected in national development plans.

    • Monitor implementation of disability laws and international conventions (e.g., UN CRPD).

  2. Improve Accessibility to Public Services

    • Work with ministries and local authorities to ensure public buildings and transportation are accessible.

    • Support the development of sign language and Braille services in public offices.

    • Promote inclusive education, health, and employment services.

  3. Empower Persons with Disabilities

    • Support skills training, livelihood projects, and entrepreneurship for persons with disabilities.

    • Facilitate access to social protection programs and assistive technologies.

    • Promote leadership and participation of persons with disabilities in governance.

  4. Raise Public Awareness and Combat Stigma

    • Conduct national awareness campaigns to change negative attitudes.

    • Establish complaint and redress mechanisms for violations of disability rights.
